Look up And Wonder
29th May. 2009 :: M51 The Whirlpool Galaxy

Full Size

Certainly not a good image of M51, but my first ever picture of another galaxy. Such and exciting moment! :)

31 million light-years away. 38,000 light-years across. It contains the equivalent of somewhere in the region of 160 billion suns. Just imagine all the planets that must be there, there must be millions of planets that have liquid water on the surface, can it be possible that in all those worlds there is not at least some form of life?

About Me

I am an amateur astronomer; I am interested in science, innovation, astronomy and general musing about philosophies of life, the universe and our place in it.

I love to look up and wonder, and this blog is mostly what results from that wondering.

I also enjoy Paragliding.
