It is hard to believe, but the Hubble Space Telescope was launched into low Earth orbit exactly 30 years ago today.
Despite its infamous initial optical flaw and the heroic shuttle repair missions that followed, Hubble has completely revolutionised our understanding of the cosmos. From pinning down the age of the universe to capturing the breathtaking 'Pillars of Creation,' it has fundamentally changed how humanity visualises deep space. It has brought the absolute wonder of the universe into our living rooms. Here is hoping this legendary observatory has a few more good years left in it before the James Webb Space Telescope eventually takes over.
