Following the suborbital hops of the summer, SpaceX has just dramatically raised the bar with the Inspiration4 mission. A Crew Dragon capsule successfully launched and spent three days in a 585-kilometre orbit with a completely civilian crew on board.

There were no professional NASA astronauts piloting the craft; everything was fully automated or controlled from the ground.

Furthermore, their orbit was significantly higher than the International Space Station, giving them an unprecedented, sweeping view of Earth through a custom-built glass cupola. It was a massive technical demonstration of SpaceX's orbital capabilities and a fantastic fundraiser for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
