Following the unfortunate pad anomaly last year, it was brilliant to see SpaceX successfully return to flight yesterday with the Iridium-1 mission. The Falcon 9 rocket delivered its payload perfectly, and to top it off, the first stage booster performed a flawless landing on the drone ship 'Just Read the Instructions' out in the Pacific Ocean.
The pace at which this technology is maturing is breathtaking. Reusable rocketry is no longer just a party trick; it is rapidly becoming a standard operational procedure. It will be fascinating to see how this shifts the economics of spaceflight over the coming decade.
