We have just experienced the most intense geomagnetic storm in over two decades (a G5 level event), and the resulting auroras have been nothing short of historic.
The sheer power of the coronal mass ejections from giant sunspot AR3664 pushed the auroral oval incredibly far south.
People across the UK, right down to the southern coast, were treated to naked-eye displays of vivid pink, purple, and green pillars dancing across the night sky.
