History was made yesterday. NASA astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley successfully launched aboard a SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule, marking the first crewed orbital flight from US soil since the final Space Shuttle mission in 2011.
Watching the sleek, futuristic Dragon capsule separate from the Falcon 9 upper stage was an incredible sight. It is a monumental shift for the aerospace industry, proving that the commercial crew model works. The fact that the first stage booster also landed itself on a drone ship while the crew was safely on their way to the International Space Station just highlights how rapidly the technology is advancing.
