So, it would appear that something rather wonderful has happened.

Completely unknown to me a supernova was discovered in M51 on the 31st May/ 1st June this year, and it is clearly visible in my image of a couple of nights ago. Here is an APOD image. So, it seems that I have accidentally taken my first image of a Supernova! It has been designated the wonderful name: SN2011dh. The supernova is clearly visible in my image, as marked in red below:
